Channel 5 News

by Frank on Dec.20, 2009, under The Lighting Blog

Channel 5 news is scheduled to be here bright and early tommorow morning to do the local weather and traffic from our house.

Looking forward to seeing the hopefull boost in donations for St Marys Food Bank. I am hoping to have $500 in cash donations and two full boxes food. we are starting to look like the food is going to reach the goal but the cash is still a little light.

It has been quite hectic the past few nights with a ton of traffic, and it’s been a great pleasure talking with a good many folks! (so if you have told me your name I will have to apologize and say that I have already forgotten it.)

I also want to thank everyone who has come out to see the lights!

December Storms

by Frank on Dec.08, 2009, under The Lighting Blog

It looks like I survived last night here in AZ – the 50′ tall mega tree is still standing, the roof stars are still standing (they go up to 22 feet over the top of the roof.)

The mini trees and the stick tree’s were all knocked over – but – that happens all of the time, so thats not such a big deal. Some things will need to be straightened out a bit, but, nothing out of the ordinary.

I removed three pieces of a neighbors patio roof from the yard this morning – I am hoping that none of the metal cut any wires, but, I will find out tonight. I know one hit a candy cane and broke the plastic.

A local mall (Anthem) lost their 80′ tall christmas tree – snapped in half. Of course I think that leaves my mega tree as now the largest tree in Arizona. We saw winds with constant of 55 mph, and gusts up to 75 mph, and about an two inches of rain. I lost the 50′ mega tree two years ago and I was determined to make sure that this one could handle 100mph + winds.

October Update!

by Frank on Oct.30, 2009, under The Lighting Blog

It’s been a very buzy month, and I haven’t updated the website as often as I should – but – hey – the more important thing is the display itself!!

As of now – the Mega Tree is up and is ready for lights, most of the wirefames are done and lit. One of the “bonus projects from this year is also completed!

There are a few smaller projects (and one large one) that need to be completed. Most of the small projects are fairly simple, and can be all handled in a day.

The display’s extension cords are almost all in place and ready to go. As lights are put up and out, the display is now at a point that things can be tested and checked.

The next 28 days are going to be crazy, exciting, and hectic!

Early September mini Update

by Frank on Sep.09, 2009, under The Lighting Blog

Well, august has now come and gone and I am still plugging away.

All of the controllers are now finished, most major projects are nearing completion or are in good standing. Many unfinished projects are awaiting supplies to become availible.

Have been continually adding photos to the feed of this years prep work – so I hope you enjoy.
